A recent exploration into visual media has resulted in Phorm creating a number of live performances of late. One of which is a performance exploring the relationship between beat box live looping and synthesizers, hence the title Beatbox Synthesis. Click the video below to see the results for yourself.
Recently Mr Phormula has also found himself teaming up with pioneering 11 piece brass band Band Pres Llarregub. Described as a Bronx hip hop-inspired New Orleans-tinged North Walian brass band with attitude. Throughout 2015 the group have been rocking crowds all over the Uk. The latest release comes in the form of a remake of SFAs highly acclaimed MWNG album. The album boasts ten tracks of brassy goodness featuring a number of lyricist including Mr Phormula. To rap this update up we are going to delve into a long forgotten project which has recently found a new lease of live thanks to Salvation Records. INCA was Conceived by former Radio Luxembourg member Rhys Spikes, this endeavour featured collaborations and co conspirators to create alternative soundtracks for long forgotten but forever treasured animated films. Spikes approached Phorm in 2008 with the idea of recording the INCA material at Phorm / Dyl Meis resident studio Studio Blaen Y Cae. Upon completion of the EP, unfortunate events led to the delay of release, that is until the audio archaeologists at Salvation recently discovered them. Iawn everyone!! Welcome to another freshly packed update here at mrphormula.com. Kicking off with the exciting Concept Collection. The Concept Collection (Casgliad Cerddorol) has been created in an attempt to collaborate and fuse beatbox live looping with artists from different genres in an attempt to create unique cross over collaborations, number 3 is now live and features the incredible talents of violinist / live looper Billy Thompson. The good people at humanbeatbox.com also interviewed Phorm on this latest venture and have included it on the site, have a butchers! Expect to see number 4 soon, but with who?? HHhhhmmmmm
Next up, Phorm was recently approached by Leeds based radio station KMAH. Fellow artists Loz Youngs and Mike Lawton are responsible for the monthly show that is HeadFood. Not only playing the latest in audio gems from across the board but they also have guest mixes from a number of artists. Phormula put together a 30 minute mix created using nothing but vocals!!!! Lastly, gigs are winding down for the year as we approach the winter months, it has been yet another manic season with a mixture of performances both as a trio with Dybl L and E-Ratik as well as solo shows. One of the major highlights took place in Cardiff alongside the legendary Jungle Brothers. Phorm was approached by Cardiff based promoters Starving Artists who put together an incredible evening! Bigup everyone involved, it was one to remember. Check the gigs section on the left to catch the last few shows of the year.
Hi all, welcome to another Phormula update! Kicking off with the exciting 9V sessions. What is the 9V session? A unique take on visual performance. Created by musician / producer Alun Jones of the Dharma Violets, an artist can perform a piece of music, but all equipment used has to be battery operated and not exceed 9volts, hence the name 9v sessions. This is Mr Phormulas second performance on the 9V project. You can check the channel here, which features a whole host of battery operated artists and musical goodness!!
Secondly, Phormula has recently teamed up with exciting promotions platform After Dark. After Dark has been created to provide a free and easy to use platform for venues, promoters and customers to list, locate andfind venues, tickets and events effortlessly within their town or city. Serving a whole host of cities including Cardiff / Bristiol / Cheltenham to name but a few, After Dark also has an exciting platform for artists and is rapidly building a great repertoire within the musical community. Welcome to another fresh panad update folks! Lets kick off with a new musical project called the "Concept Collection". A direct result of Phormula's passion for collaboration and improvisation, this project sets out to create a series of collaborative videos exploring beatbox / live looping and the fusing of artists from a range of genres. "Concept Collection #1" was a collaboration with talented multi instrumentalist Henry Horell. "Concept Collection #2" explores the boundaries of Jazz / dance alongside international jazz pianist Huw Warren and renowned breaker Wren Ball filmed at Wren's brand spanking studio space "Bones to the Stones". The latest edition instantly caught the eye of legendary beatboxer and humanbeatbox.com owner Tyte and thus receievd an instant feature on renowned website humanbeatbox.com. Check the lastest collaboration out below!!
Next up festival sets are closing in as the summer season approaches. Confirmations for Awake Fest, Glass Butter Beach festival, Gwyl Crug Mawr festival to name but a few, expect a fresh explosive set from Mr Phormula as he's joined by usual hiphop suspects Dybl L and E-Ratik, building on the previous years impressive roster of gigs, you can expect the new set to blow the roof off!!! Finally, Mr phormula was recently approached by Literature Wales with an invite to be a part of an exciting new project called "Slam Cymru". Centered around the global movement of Slam poetry, "Slam Cymru" offers young people across Wales the oppurtunity to work alongside 12 professional poets in an attempt to devise a collection of slam poems. All twelve teams will then go head to head at the official "Slam Cymru" competition in an attempt to be crowned the first ever welsh slam champions!! An exciting venture featuring a wealth of poets including young people's laureate Martin Daws, bardd plant cymru Nei karadog, Wrexham based Sophie Mckeand to name but a few. Phorm is working alongside Mold based school Maes Garmon, which are sure to win!!!!

2015 has kicked off in an incredible way! Recently Mr Phormula was invited to be a part of an exciting worldwide international project. '#HIPHOPISHIPHOP' is a worldwide Hip Hop movement as well as a project with representative rappers from 14 countries and Korea’s best DJs, b-boys, graffiti artists, and beat boxers that have come together just for hip hop. The rappers include San E, having caught the attention of both the Hip Hop underground fans as well as the public in Korea; Finland’s Redrama, having been awarded the ‘best Hip Hop/dance’ award in the Emma Awards (the Finnish version of the Grammys); Italy’s Strike The Head; Bosnia’s Frenkie; Singapore’s Pendekar; India’s Adx; Portugal’s Valete; Wale’s Mr Phormula; Indonesia’s Yacko; and Bangladesh’s SadmAnn. Last but not least, legendary artist KRS-One, referred to as the ‘Hip Hop Philosopher’, also participated. He particularly stated and expressed support that this movement is aligned with his personal direction in music, further attracting attention to the project. What are you waiting for?!?!? Next up, gigs have been blowing up all over so far!! Highlights being Gwobrau'r Selar in Aberystwyth and the first ever Welsh beatbox championships in Cardiff, Phorm stormed the stage with usual suspects Dybl L and E-Ratik, with a load of shows set for this year make sure you get over to one!!! Dybl L has also been busy hibernating and getting to grips with new material, expect to hear a fresh Sessiwn C2 in the next few weeks consisting of three fresh tracks, a taster if you will of Dybl L's next album. YoYoyoYo!!!! Its been a while since our last update! What a year! Between touring the Uk / releasing CYMUD / conducting workshops, Phorms has taken a back seat recently, a well, deserved break! Or perhaps, preparing for the onslaught of 2015! Picking up on one of the years highlights, DylanLive has been an incredible project. In collaboration with Literature Wales and a host of fellow artists / musicians, Phorm found himself touring the Uk and NY performing in the unique interactive lecture based upon Dylan Thomas. Next up, Phorm is proud to be a prt of the first ever Welsh Beatbox Championships! Big shouts to Mean Business Media and fellow beatboxer Mathew Hann for collaborating on this exciting event! SUBMISSION DEADLINE 15TH DECEMBER!!! - The event is to be held at one of the Welsh capital's most vibrant independent live music venues The Moon/Full Moon Club on the 17th JANUARY 2015, and will be part of the venues month long Free For All Festival held throughout January each year. The event in line with other nationalbeatbox events will showcase up and coming performers giving them the chance to gain exposure and recognition as well as stand them in good stead to represent Wales on the World stage. Phormula will be showcasing a live looping set at the event and also the aftershow party. As per usual, Phorm has been flatout on the music front. Kicking off firstly with a new collection of videos called the "Concept Collection", what is that I hear you say?? Phorm has recently had the priviledge of working with some incredibly talented musicians / artists, coming to the realisation that concepts are important in music. As a result, Phorm decided to start working on a collection of videos. The idea being that these performances utilise the art form of beatboxing / live looping with numerous artists that specialise In their genre in order to create crossover / modern takes on traditional art forms. The first video can be seen below with a very talented multi instrumentalist / good friend called Henry Horrell. This is the first “Concept Collection” video, enjoy!! Mwynhewch!!!!
Secondly, Phorm's next musical release is nearing completion. Expect this to come in the form of a free digital EP titled "Be ti'n gweld?" (What do you see?). The EP will consist of the original track alongside 5 thumping remixes courtesy of a great selection of producers including Ifan Dafydd / Switch Fusion / Dez Williams / E-Ratik and Phorms himself. Expect to hear a wide array of genre styles on this jam packed FREE ep!! Set for release next week.
The CYMUD tour is slowly approaching the end of the festvial season which has been incredible so far, joined by fellow MC Dybl L and dj E-Ratik, the trio have scaled the U.k performing at an array of festivals including Boombap / Boomtown Fair / Festival 6 to name but a few. What's been happening since our last interview?!? LOADS!!!! Staring with the exciting 9V sessions, Mr Phormula was recently approached by fellow musician and producer Alun jones about a great new idea called the 9V sessions. The idea being that select artists perform battery operated versions of their songs in random areas of tehir choice. Phorm was priviledge to kick off the first session in teh middle of nowhere up at Croesor, you can check that here and also hit up the channel for Pulco's stunning 9v session too
Next up, between all the daily workshops and school sessions, the CYMUD tour has also been going off!! With gigs hapopening all over the country, Phorms / Dybl L and E-Ratik are now deep in the festival leg of the tour. With some impressives dates nailed so far including BoomBap / Another festival / Awareness festvial to name but a few, the trio show no signs of slowing as they get ready for the forthcoming shows at BoomTown Fair / Festival 6 / Audio Farm amongst others, be sure to catch this trio live!!
Phorm has also been flatout in the studio, as per, collaborating with a load of fresh artists one of which is Squid Ninjaz member Ral Duke. Dookie Unchained is cooking and sounding ridiculous, set for relase soon, you can check the first track taken off the EP here. Phorm also has a fresh EP, almost ready to drop, "Be Ti'n Gwled?" features a wealth of remixes from local homegrwon artists, including the original track, set for free release shortly, so keep em peeled people!!!
Lastly, a little visual goodie for ya! Phormula found himself with some spare studio time recently and so decided to setup a whole host of devices / equipment and make a D'n'B beatbox looping verson of "Minority", have a butchers!! Enjoy peeps!! Until next time!!!
Its been a while since our last update but rest assured Phorm has been flatout on new developments. Firstly, last year Phorm was invited to be a part of an exciting new project setup by Literature Wales, Dylan Live is a bilingual performance tracing Dylan Thomas trip to New York through jazz, beat poetry, hip-hop, spoken word and film. The team features the likes of young peoples laureate Martin Daws, Bardd plant Cymru Aneirin Karadog, double bassist Huw V Williams, poet Zaru Jonson and professor Daniel Williams. The team have taken the show on a successful tour around Wales, and in may were invited to perform at the PEN world voices festival in New York city. The show went down a storm and received great praise. The full NYC performance can be viewed below.
Next up, Phorm has been busy at studio Panad yet again. Working on collaborations with the likes of Ral Duke / Dybl L / Sleep beggar to name but a few. As a result, Phorm has put together an 18 track mixtape. PANAD mixtape features a wealth of Phorm's latest instrumentals and productions from forthcoming collaborations and projects. Another heavyweight release from the Panad Products stable! All for FREE!! Enjoy!! Mwynewch!!!
Next up, Phorm's latest album CYMUD has been making the rounds receiving airplay on BBC Radio 1's introducing / BBC Radio Wales / BBC Radio Cymru, the feedback has been astonishing, one of the major highlights has been an all out big review of teh album in wordplay magazine. the CYMUD tour has been blasting venues all across Wales from Cardiff to Bngor and everywhere between. The next leg of the tour hits the festvials starting in june at the Awareness festival, catch Phorm live with fellow rap artist Dybl L and E-Ratik on the ones and twos. The trio will then be moving on to perform at some of teh biggest festivals of teh year including BoomTown Fair / BoomBap festival / Festival 6 / Swn to name but a few. What a year it has been so far! What with all the music videos, tracks and preparation for the new album, there's no signs of slowing as Phormula approaches the CYMUD album release (MARCH 14th) . Firstly, today heralds the release date for the new "MINORITY" music video, set in a futiristic city, this video boasts real eye candy and can be seen below. Huge props to Rob Spaull of Media Pod for the production, Andy "Dime One" for the incredible graffiti backdrop and Ben Brodie / Chris Bailey for the futiristic robot cops! Enjoy! Mwynhewch! Next up, Mr Phormula has recently re-worked the live set but teaming up with fellow hiphop artists Dybl L and E-Ratik, going back to the old school setup of 2 mcs and one Dj. The live set boasts a range of bangers taken from the forthcoming CYMUD album with various beatbox intervals between tracks to create a truly thumping live set. tour dates can be found to the left - you need to catch this show live! Added to that, the trio have recently had confirmation to play at this year's BoomBap festival / BoomTown fair / Focus Wales and many more. The trio have also been busy filming various snippets and performances, one of which can be seen below. The trio recorded two live performances for welsh tv program "Ochr Un" in December, take a look see what the fuss is about.
Amongst other news, the DYLAN LIVE tour is also set to start next week. Dylan Live is a 60 minute bilingual performance which traces the origin of hip hop back to a young Welshmans visit to New York in 1952 through a fusion of jazz, beat poetry, hip hop and spoken word. Dylan visited and stayed in New York City on four occasions between 1950 and 1953, a time when New York was witnessing a revolution in music with musicians such as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Tad Dameron and others forging the style known as Be-Bop. This was the music that inspired New Yorks hip hop movement, but if the music came from Be-Bop where did the words come from? Tour dates can be found on teh left! You donlt to miss this! Season's greetings people! what a year it has been for Mr Phormula. Since our last update its been business as usual as Phorm has been scaling the country spreading the panad goodness! First up, the new album "Cymud" is set for release in february alongside a tour / S4C documentary and exclusive music video. As a warm up to the release, Phorm has teamed up with fellow rap artist Dybl L and renowned hiphop dj E-Ratik and filmed two exclusive performances for welsh language music program "Ochr Un", the performance can be viewed by clicking the performance picture on the right.
Next stop - Bit of a childhood dream this! Teenage mutant ninja turtles has recently been relaunched on Nickelodeon, resulting in the translation of a welsh version "Crwbanod Ninja", Mr Phormula was approached by local based tv company Lefel Dau with the idea of recording the welsh version rap for the theme tune!! As mentioned in the previous update, this year's human beatbox championships was an absolute success. Mr Phormula got to the looping finals against fellow beatboxer Hobbit, both artists performed exceptionally well! The good people at humanbeatbox.com have also filmed the entire battle, this can be viewed below or via the media media page - Roll on 2014!
Amongst other news, Mr Phormula was recentl approached by Literature Wales about an exciting project celebrating 100 years of Dylan Thomas, Mr Phormula has teamed up with a great group of artists / poets including young people's laureate Martin Daws / Bardd plant cymru and fellow rapper Aneirin Karadog / Renowned poet Zaru Jonson and double bassist Huw V amongst others, with the aim of creating a performance / lecture that will be performed across all the universities in Wales in early 2014, info can be found by clicking the image.

Mr Phormulas second album Cymud is expected back from the printers any day now! Primarily a digital release alongside a ltd run of 200 cd copies. The album is set to release the end of this month on exciting new welsh label Rheidol Records. Expect this album to bang out classics featuring some of the hottest Uk rap artists including Four Owls members BVA / Leafdog, underground legend Dr Syntax, Birmingham based lyricist Sonny Jim and a wealth of other rap artists! Keep em peeled!! Expect to see a jam packed tour develop over the forthcoming weeks - You don’t want to miss this!
Next up, Mr Phormula recently received an invitation from established company Ubiquita worldwide to head out to NY and perform in Harlem / Brooklyn at a host of different events including a relaxed jazz affair to a full on underground set at a club In Brooklyn. Amongst other news, over the summer Mr Phormula performed at a wealth of festivals including Boomtown Fair / Copperfest / Audio Farm / Eisteddfod to name but a few, as part of a show in the eisteddfod Phorm teamed up with Pendulum / Tinie Tempah guitarist Peredur Ap Gwynedd to put together the history of welsh language music classics in three minutes! Phormula has also started a fresh project with fellow musician and jazz extraordinaire Huw Warren. The duo have had numerous studio sessions and jams here at studio Panad and have decided to move forward with the project. Alongside a third member Neil Yates, with gigs to follow, keep em peeled for developments on this exciting new project.
Full steam ahead here at panad HQ! Firstly, Mr Phormula recently uploaded a submission to the Uk beatbox championships 2013. One amongst over 110 beatboxers, Mr Phormula was one of 40 selected out of the submitted videos - Cynrychioli. The Uk beatbox championships promises to be a fully packed vocal pumped day with battles / performances taking place from mid day until only one beatboxer remains. Who will claim the title of Uk beatbox champion 2013? Our guess is a good as yours! Mr Phormula has also been enetered into the Uk beatbox looping championships which will happen on the same day. Amongst other news, Phorm was recently approached by welsh language program Y Lle with an invite to perform two new tracks on the show. Mr Phormula teamed up with super talented bassist Huw Williams and created two exclusive tracks for the program which can be seen here via S4C clic

Mr Phormulas single Minority is almost at completion. Expect the relese to drop digitally in mid march with exclusive remixes from Jay Robinson / Leafdog / Kelakovski and Rob spaull, no doubt a classic boom bap banger, keep your eyes peeled ofr the release. April, will see the release of Mr Phormulas second album, shaping up to smash speakers as did the debut album expect to hear collaborations with some of the hottest Uk rap artists including Dr Syntax / Sonny Jim / Leafdog / Skamma / BVA / Jo Blow / Madhat Mcgore and loads more, 2013 is going to be a big year.
Happy new year people! 2012 certainly boosted Mr phormula's status in the limelight and 2013 is set to do the same!
Firstly, way back in November 2012 Phorm hosted a hiphop night courtesy of EMW. Acts included The culture vultures and Four Owls members Leafdog / BVA and Smellington Piff. The night was a success as expected and also resulted in a collaboartion between Leafdog / BVA and Phorm for Phormula's forthcoming second album release, set to hit the digital realm in March. To date, the album boasts a wealth of some of the hottest Uk rap artists including Sonny Jim / Dr Syntax / Madhat Mcgore / Jo Blow / Leafodg / BVA / Hoax emcee / Dybl L and more tbc. Expect another demonstration of finely crafted bi-lingual boom bapness! Keep em peeled!
Next up, In a run up to the next Phormula album. Panad products has teamed up with welsh rap collective and Pen-Ta-Gram affiliates "Never Miss", dope welsh rap artsist aboard! Dybl L / Hoax Emcee / Artifactz / Killah Gorillah. The collectives came together over the festive season and created a free e.p that will be up for download via the shop section very soon. Tracks consist of that bi-lingual boom bapness! Production handled via Mr Phormula and Artifactz. This e.p is not be missed and will be available very soon!
Last up, gigs for 2013 are flying in. Check the gigs box on the left for all the forthcoming shows. Loads more in the pipeline including regular slots at certain venues etc. New album to drop / a free e.p / tons of collaboartaions and more! Indeed a crazy month for Phorm! The recent Radio1 documentray "Rap Britannia" got aired on Radio1 Sep 23rd alongside the Uk rap anthem which racked up over 300,000 views in the first week! This resulted in a invitation to perform the Uk rap anthem at this year's MOBO awards, first ever welsh language rap artist to appear on the MOBO's - Result!
Recent collaborations have also resulted in Phorm working with Barry based rap artist "Skamma", who's Skamma?!? Check this vid, get to know. Tipped to blow, expect Skamma's album to be full of bangers with production from Phorm / Mr Digital and others. Ridiculous! Click "Skamma" to get his band page.
Next up, work is now underway on Phormula's new e.p which is set to hit the digital realm this november including collaborations with Dr Syntax, Sonny Jim, Skamma and more, this is shaping up to be a Panad produced banger! In the last update we told you about mr Phormula's appearance on Charlie Sloth's "Rap Brittania", well now its online and ready to view! The documentary explores hiphop from all corners of the U.K including Ireland / Scotalnd / Wales as well as Enland. The doc features Mr Phormula alongside fellow welsh rap artist Hoax emcee repping North Wales. A super fresh U.K rap anthem was also created in the process. Massive shout outs to all involved! Recently Phomula has also been knocking up a new promotional video to advertise the workshops aspect of the site. Amongest other news Phorm has been busy on the gigs front with a wealth of new gigs to date. One of which takes place on November 16th at The Parrot, carmarthen. Phorm will play host to a super dope night of hiphop and electronica courtesy of Electronic Music Wales featuring the likes of RLD records consisting of Leafdog / BVA and Piff Smellington with support from local hiphop outfit Culture Vultures and many more! You need to get down to this, do it quick though - tickets are flying out!! Volume also returns at Bangor's legendary Embassy nightclub - October 5th, featurning a load of dope artists as usual, Phorm on a new project (underwraps for now!) supporting legendary Kissy Sellout - this certainly will be a sell out so grab a ticket! Loads of other dope shows include Mash Up supporting British actor Danny Dyer, Check the box to the right with all the latest info on shows near you!
Firstly, Radio1 extra recently contacted Phormula with an invitation to be part of Charlie Sloth's documentary "It's grime up north" The documentary concentrates on hiphop and artists around the U.K, naturally Phormula accepted and did an interview followed by a beatbox / rap cypher with fellow welsh rapper Hoax Emcee. Phorm also travelled down to London to record a verse on an anthem that coincides with the documentary that features all the artists. Broadcast and airplay to follow on Radio1 and BBC3 over the forthcoming months! Big tings a gwan as one would say.
Next up, the "instrumentals for sale" section is now live! Looking to get that special bounce on your tracks?? Then this section is for you. All instrumentals are made in house by Mr Phormula himself and all have that certain Panad watermark! Grab them while you can folks!
Amongst other news Mr Phormula was recently approached by long time Dj and promoter Ed Mackie about an exciting up and coming collective called the Bass Rebels. Consisting of core members Jay Robinson, Invaders of nine, Switch fusion and Ed Mackie. Phorm was invited to join the collective as an Mc / host, naturally Phorm jumped up. The first E.p "Don't Go" by Invaders of Nine has just hit the airwaves and is creating mass vibes! A record launch is Bangor's Embassy also proved that this collective has what it takes to raise the roof! Expect to hear more this exciting up and coming collective over the forthcoming months.
Gigs have also been aplenty recently, from Gwyl Gobaith, Le Moulin rouge to the Bass rebels record launch, Phorm has certainly been all ovetr the shop with no signs of slowing down. To top it all off, a new digital E.P is underway featuring an already exciting list of collaborations with more to follow, expect the E.P to hit the digital realm before Christmas!

Happy new year people!! Plenty a panad and mulled wine have been consumed over the festive season! Batteries are now fully charged and we`re ready to roll into the 012, full steam ahead! Amongst other news, Mr Phormula has recently found himself opening up for the legendary Ugly Duckling as part of Cardiff's SWN festival, An incredible evening alongside a well deserved hookup with UD's producer - Einstein! Ugly Duckling of course also smashed their set with a very "House party" vibe that complimented the evening well! Cheers SWN! Same time next year!
Also cruising along at a very speedy pace is Mr Phormula's residency at Bangor's new premier nightclub "Embassy". Previous months saw Phorms opening up for the legendary Scratch Perverts, who shook Bangor to the absolute core! A huge evening that boasted success! As well as previously opening for Radio 1's Fabio, it's safe to say that Embassy is dominating the boards right now! Last show saw phorm hosting for Estonia's "Mord Fustang" an incredible house / Tech / Electro artist that smashed it - as expected!
